Green Turbine Newsletter | Premier Issue

Welcome to our first newsletter!

As the release date for our Beta versions is swiftly approaching (production is scheduled for autumn 2011), we would like to use this opportunity to start with our newsletter.

In this first edition, we are pleased to announce some positive news; at the end of 2010 Green Turbine received a grant from the Flemish government for the further development of the Green Turbine. You can read more about this grant on our blog.
 .
Every day, Green Turbine receives dozens of emails from enthusiasts who are interested in, or would like to buy our turbine. Most of these emails contain the same questions. So as not to repeat ourselves, we are taking the opportunity to compose a FAQ (see below).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

When will the turbines be available for purchase on the market?
Currently, we're testing our smallest version (1,2 kW) for endurance and expect to complete these tests by the end of  summer.
Shortly after, we will be releasing our first ten Beta versions. Several of these have been reserved, but we would like to
invite other interested parties to contact us. For North America and China: info@greenturbine.net.
For the rest of the world: info@greenturbine.eu
As this concerns Beta versions, certain demands will have to be met.

Furthermore, we are currently working on the design for the 2,5 and 15 kW turbines. Our next step is to build the
prototypes and commence testing. Release date for these versions is expected for beginning 2012. The next step in the production phase is to make the 15 kW version which we expect to be ready at the end of 2011/beginning of 2012.

What will be the cost of a 1,2 kW turbine?
We will have more information on this shortly, but due to the fact that new materials are being tested and improvements are constantly being made, we cannot yet give you a conclusive answer.

Does the turbine come with the generator? And what other components are required?
The generators are integrated in the turbine. However, there are some other components required to run the turbine, such as; a dry steam source, a condenser, a vacuum pump and an inverter. Green Turbine is currently putting together a complete package to include all the necessary components. For more information, please contact info@greenturbine.eu.

Do I need saturated or superheated steam?
The turbine requires superheated steam of approximately 5 bar, 200 degrees Celsius.
Steam quality (dry steam) is also very important issue for slight deviations will also result in efficiency losses and could possibly damage the turbine.

We receive a lot of questions concerning the use of biomass (wood for example) to create steam. This is possible, but we
have to keep in mind that the turbine needs a stable steam flow under the proper conditions. For this reason, our licensee (SMO bvba) is currently developing an automated wood pellet stove in combination with the Green Turbine.
In the first phase a Micro Combined heat and Power (micro-CHP) system is being developed to generate 1.2 kW of
electrical energy and 12 kW of thermal energy. A prototype is currently running and the first field tests are scheduled for
autumn 2011. For more info please check www.greengen.be. (soon to be online)
